Dear Member,
"You must give some time to your fellow man. Even
if it's a little thing, do something for those who have need
of help, something for which you get no pay but the
privilege of doing it. For remember, you don't live in a
world all your own. Your brothers are here, too." Albert
Schweitzer
When was the last time you volunteered to help someone
less fortunate than you? I had the honor this spring to work
with Dean Klassman of Klassman Financial (847-454-0660 ext.
106). Dean invited me to volunteer with his "Buddy Baseball"
www.keshet.org/buddybaseball.asp program this past Spring,
and it was an experience I will NEVER forget.
Imagine children that are challenged everyday with the
skills we so easily take for granted: getting dressed,
eating, drinking, communicating, walking. Now imagine these
children on a baseball field with one, two or three
volunteers (young and "seasoned") helping them enjoy the
game of baseball. The smiles on their faces, the joy in
their eyes, the energy and enthusiasm of the spectators -
this is what true happiness and unconditional love and
giving is all about. Dean, his wife Leslie and their
children are all a part of this program. Keshet’s Buddy
baseball is an opportunity like no other for children with
disabilities.
The All-Star game at Thillens Stadium (Devon and Kedzie
Avenues in Chicago) on July 20th at 5:30 pm, will give you
the opportunity to see a group of dedicated parents,
volunteers, players and supporters who enjoy giving their
time and love to these wonderful children.
Please thank Dean, Leslie and their children for their
dedication and hard work in providing this program every
Sunday in the spring.
And a special thank you to the buddies I had the pleasure
to work with: Larissa, Chris and JoJo.
